Getting Started
Orientation
The required starting session for everyone interested in becoming
a member, using the facility, taking courses, and/or producing a
program. The orientation includes a discussion of “what is public
access,” a review of the basic rules and regulations, and a tour of
the facilities. After attendance at the orientation, you may
register for membership at the main office during regular business
hours, and sign-up for courses.
Held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, 6:00-7:30 PM.
Registration
Registration for membership must be done in person, Monday – Friday during regular business hours, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. At that time you must present a valid government-issued photo ID with your current residential address. Payment can be made by cash or check (paid to: CMPAC).Charlotte: $25
Mecklenburg County: $65
Other (can not be a producer): $100
At registration you will be given a complete packet of the Rules and Regulations of the organization, as well as other materials. Once your membership registration is complete, you may sign-up for any courses for which you qualify.
Producer Workshop
Before producing a program on Access 21,
you must attend this half-day course to learn the logistics of
producing a television program in the studio and the field, the
specific requirements at CMPAC, and the various ways to effectively
communicate your message to the viewers. A written test will be
administered at the end of the session. Following the successful
completion of this session, members can begin the process to
register their program for the next available programming quarter.
